So my new chapter begins.
I’m back from my ‘break’ feeling fully refreshed and inspired. Thank you so much to everyone for the support regarding my last blog post. Taking a step back was the best thing I could’ve done.
As of now, I have finished working at the college. So technically I am now full-time Bella Coco which has been my dream for a long time. It’s been a scary road but I fully believe that everything has happened in the last 2 years for a reason. I’ve transitioned from being employed full time, to part time and now the stabilisers have been removed! I’m a massive believer that the universe has ways in which to push you in the right direction. there have been times that have been very difficult, but to be honest, without those difficult times I think I’d still be stood on the proverbial edge scared to take the leap.
It very much feels like a new chapter for me and I’m excited to see what opportunities open up to me over the coming months. Of course, October will bring a whole new settling in period when the baby girl arrives, but I’m ready…..and extremely excited. I’m also looking forward to sharing these new experiences with you.
You will start to see a little more separation between my blog and the store. My blog will continue to be a mixture of personal posts, Interiors, Beauty, crafts and general life inspiration! You will start to see more of the crochet related posts veering towards Bella Coco Store. This is purely because I’m becoming increasingly aware that I seem to have two separate audiences. Some of you like one or the other and some of you may cross into both. This way, you get more choice over what you see.
So here’s where you can follow me and for what:

NOTE: I think my pregnancy updates and Lifestyle videos may still live on here for a while? I’ve spent so long building this channel and I struggle each time knowing which channel to put them on. Once my other channel builds a little more, I shall begin to put the lifestyle ones on there.
So now with a clear head, It’s time to set some goals! It’s been a while since I’ve actually sat down and got really clear on my goals and it feels SO good to get them written down. I asked on Instagram and Facebook if you would like me to share them with you and A LOT of you said yes (I guess you’re all goal junkies like me) so here are the goals I shall be working on over the next 6-8 weeks:
- Get the nursery complete by August
I like to be organised, so having the nursery ready for the little one will put my mind at rest and make me feel like I’m prepared. Once the nursery decor is ready, I shall then get to work washing all of her clothes! Something which I’m really looking forward to! I know that sounds so sad doesn’t it!
- Start antenatal classes
Up until now, I’ve not attended any classes really. Anthony and I did go to a New Parent even at Mothercare a few months back and we found it really interesting. So hopefully from the classes I can pick up a few more tips and feel like I might have a clue what to do when she makes her appearance. I’ve never really been brought up around babies or had a huge amount of experience with them. In fact thinking about it, I’ve never changed a nappy or dressed a baby…unless you count my tiny tears!
- Practice Hypnobirthing
This is something I really want to give a go. I’ve always been into meditations (although I fully admit it’s something that I haven’t been practicing over the last few years!) I think staying calm throughout labor is so important and feel hypnobirthing will help with this.
- Get back to the gym
For the first 12 weeks I didn’t really go to the gym that much. I was scared that I would hurt the teeny tiny baby growing inside by giggling it around too much as well as having horrible morning sickness. I started going back a little bit more in my second trimester but then got super busy again. Now I have a little more time I think that it’s important for me and the baby to keep active and stay fit. Since being pregnant, I’ve taken it easy whenever I’ve been and followed the guidelines for exercising while pregnant. I always feel so much better when I’ve been! Time to dig out the maternity work out clothes again.
- Don’t be too hard on myself
Taking the step back did me the world of good. I’ve realised that the world doesn’t stop if I do! Things will be fine if I need to take a few days to myself.
- Work on my marketing skills
Really get clear on some marketing strategies. This isn’t something I’ve had training in, in certainly no expert so it’s time to LEARN LEARN LEARN! If anyone knows of any good books or e-courses- let me know. I’ve been a little afraid of this in the past because I hate to ‘sell’ to people, but I realise that a business is a business and it needs to thrive. There’s no harm in having a bit of strategy behind it.
- Grow sales
Sales are coming through nicely, but I would really like to see them grow a lot more this year in order to increase the amount of stock available on the store. I’d love to be able to stock more ranges and more brands. I shall be monitoring this through both monthly sales and conversion rates.
- Grow the team
I realise that having so many different aspects to what I do, it’s easy to spread myself too thin. I would like to get some people on board who are experts in their field. Perhaps someone for graphics for social media and newsletters. Marketing or business experts. A photographer to help with store and blog photos (although I already have a special someone lined up for this). Designers to help with getting more patterns on the store and projects for tutorials…..that kind of thing. If you think you might be a good fit for the Bella Coco team then please send your CV to firstname.lastname@example.org with some examples of your work and I’d be happy to take a look.
- Prepare some posts and tutorials in advance
This is so that I can have some guilt free time off when baby is born. I won’t get ‘maternity leave’ as such because the business still has to run and the bills still need to be paid!
