My New Desk Space

At the end of 2016 I decided that my Croffice (Craft room/Office) just want working for me anymore. My desk was far too small for me to work at and filming tutorials was becoming difficult. The way in which I use the room has changed a lot over the past 18 months. What once was a room where I would do all of my crafts, it’s now more an office and a place for me to run my business.

When thinking about what to do with the room, I knew that I didn’t want to get rid of all my craft things, after all, I still love to craft even if I don’t get chance to do much anymore. I needed the space to hold my folders and information for the business and enough workspace to work and film my tutorials. It still needed to be a hybrid of a room and when planning, I made sure I considered what the walls would look like in order to act as backgrounds for my videos.

I wanted the room to be bright and feminine which is in keeping with my usual personal style. I also needed a lot of storage to house my craft and business supplies. I put together a mini mood board so I was clear on my vision for the room.

I headed to Ikea and picked up some overhead wall storage which I knew would be perfect for my craft supplies. Adding overhead storage is the perfect way to add storage space without cluttering up the floor space. This room is the smallest in our house and floor space is essential for when I’m filming with lights and using my tripod. I decided to go for matching draws which I have used as ‘legs’ for the worktop which fits perfectly along the wall.

Finally the best part….the accessories. A lot of the accessories I had already. When changing the room I took everything out and only kept the things that were in keeping with the design board. I then headed to Desenio to choose the wall prints that are on the wall behind my iMac. I kept with the colour scheme and chose prints that I knew would inspire me when working at my desk. The quote print reads ‘It would be a much more beautiful world if people did as they pleased, and not what other people expected of them- Marc Jacobs’. I also chose two Rose Gold/Copper photo frames and one white. The great thing about Desenio is that you can choose the size of your prints and the frame it goes it. Perfect for customising to suit your space.

If you would like to get your hands on your own prints, you can use tThe code BELLACOCO’ which gives you 25% off posters, (except handpicked/frames), between 2nd – 4th May.

My desk space now feels calm and inviting and I love sitting and working at it. I’m so pleased I decided to update the room. I still have a few extra bits to do on the other side of the room and once I do, I was thinking of doing a video room tour! Let me know if that is something that you would like to see.

Wow, such a beautiful, light space. I would never have thought of the overhead storage, that’s a great use of space. And I love your choice of colours – my favourite!
